The old high school building. Table Mountain Church has the opportunity to purchase a large building in the center of the town of Rye, CO, right across the street from Rye High School and Rye Elementary. The building was the former high school in Rye, and has a large gymnasium which has been converted to a store, several classrooms which have been converted to apartments, as well as abundant storage space. Because of the building’s prime location and size it is ideal for use as a community center. The store was located in a small section of what was once the gym. The entire gym can easily be converted back into an open space suitable for a variety of purposes. The seller is a Christian and has a concerned heart for the community and desire to see Table Mountain Church in this facility. The building and the land that it's on contain four apartments and five RV spaces with full hook-ups. The income from these rentals will nearly cover the mortgage on the entire building. the need There is a need in the community for "Third Space". Third space is a term Starbucks uses to describe their coffee shops. Typically people have two spaces, home and work; but we have a desire to meet a significant felt need in our valley by providing people a third space where they could connect with others outside of home and work/school. Such third spaces are essentially non-existent in our community, and providing people a place to hang out is a huge ministry opportunity. what we'll do with it Table Mountain Church was founded with a vision to develop a community center in the Greenhorn Valley. This community center would not only be used for regular Church activities but would also house a variety of ministries which could include: after school programs, a coffee house, a skate park, youth programs, a food pantry, a location for concerts and other community events, etc. The first phase after purchase will involve opening the main room, creating an entry area that would house a community coffee shop, and re-opening a staircase to the basement where new men’s and women’s restrooms will be installed.
